Artist's Description

The Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge was created in 1963 from land that was originally purchased to build the Kennedy Space Center, but ended up going unused. The Refuge is managed by the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service and is not part of Canaveral National Seashore. However, to the typical tourist, the Refuge and the Seashore are indistinguishable from each other. Even the National Park Service map for Canaveral shows the two parks as one, and it is hard to find any map that shows where the boundary between the two is drawn.

About Bill Barber

Bill Barber

As a photographer, I am truely blessed to live in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. This geographic area is rich in photogenic scenery and fabulous wildlife. Mother nature at her finest! An avid photographer since 1974 I have had the incredible opportunity to travel the world while serving over 20 years in the United States Navy. Having lived and visited so many different places gives me a unique perspective on nature and wildlife of regions I visit today. My gallery hosts many genres of photography, from landscapes to wildlife photography of birds and woodland creatures. These durable prints will be the perfect addition to any room in your home or office.
